About Me

“As an artist, I believe creative expression evokes emotion, the beauty of the unconscious, and the values of the soul.  It seems art knows past, present, and future; and one’s deepest secrets and fantasies. When this is expressed out to the world, anything can happen, because we can connect in a way that would be impossible otherwise. This moves me. All I can think of is what to create next.”

Since 2021, the Circus of Dreams textile sculpture collection started to emerge. This collection goes very deep in me. It has not been finished. This was just a preview of what is to come. This collection is inspired in the beloved childhood.

In 2021, the Dream Intuition painting collection was born, all inspired on dreams I had during the last couple of years.

Ciudad de Colores (City of Colours), was born after category 5 hurricane Maria hit Puerto Rico in September 2017. Those days after disaster, I sculpted small fantastic character heads, while at the same time I did inventory of the food and water we had left. To sculpt these little lives came to me so naturally, and having them born gave me so much comfort. Time passed and Puerto Rico partially recovered as a true warrior, despite political tragedy, while I focused more on my paintings than in the fantastic heads…

Three years later, now living in the United Kingdom, COVID-19 happened and changed everything to all. Immediately knocking on my door, the little lives came back to me, this time stronger, this time to stay. The communication was clear, I would give life to them, I will make them real, and I would send them in a heroine’s journey by boat. One night, after working very hard on the characters and their boats, I had a vivid dream where I saw myself sailing in one of the boats, on a journey to a place called City of Colours.

I grew up watching fantasy movies. I loved to dream as a child. I wish I knew how many times I saw movies with fantastic and mysterious characters, beauty and darkness, tasks to pass. These films touched me. And my passion for storytelling was born.

About Me

“I believe yoga is a beautiful journey of self-discovery and self-transformation. You awake to who you really are. I would like to humbly share yoga in a safe place so more people discover this treasure.”

Viviana del Mar, 2023

I moved to the UK from Puerto Rico in 2019. Yoga and modern meditation has given me clarity, grounding, and deep inner peace.  This has been a critical skill set as our external world has changed so dramatically in the last 3 years.

I thought that yoga was for the fit and flexible, that it was too slow (or too fast) for me, and that teachers would require me to do handstands in every class. This can’t be farther from the truth, there’s a style and approach for everyone.

I experimented with yoga classes multiple times before, but I was not consistent. Being a visual artist, my time would be strictly dedicated to my artwork and family. But then Covid happened, recently after I had relocated to a new country. I had the time to reflect and take a good look within, as the path to peace lies within. That was when my dear friend Sharon invited me to yoga. My transformation began.

Resilience, body awareness, stress management, vitality, and creativity are just a few of the benefits I was gifted when my yoga practice started to be consistent. Yoga can be accessible and inclusive. Alternatives and modifications can be shared in class in a welcoming setting. Yoga is not a competition, nor hard fancy poses in Instagram, nor religion. Yoga is stillness of the mind, mindful movement, wonderful nourishment that connects mind, body, and soul. The word yoga comes from the Sanskrit root word “yug,” which literally means to yoke or unite. Yoga makes you feel you have come back home. And there’s definitely no place like home.

Yoga is a lifestyle. Life is about balance. In the challenging times we are currently living, yoga and modern meditation are amazing tools to enrich our lives. They say “You don’t find yoga, yoga finds you”; and they’re right. Yoga is something so personal, beautiful, and unique to you. So let yoga find you, and explore yoga with playful curiosity, you will discover an infinite treasure, within you.   It will also help improve other aspects of your personal and professional life.
